My backup for each week from now – my area is Heald Place East, St Ives Rd, Ealing Ave, Eileen Grove. This comprises:
St Ives/Heald Place – 3 big blacks, 1 big blue, 1 big brown at bottom, 2 big blacks, 1 big blue, 1 big brown at top
Ealing /Eileen Grove – 2 big blacks, 1 big blue, 1 big brown at bottom; 1 big black, 1 big blue, 1 big brown at top
Other side Eileen Grove – 2 big blacks, 1 big blue, 1 big brown at bottom, none at topNumber of homes: 82 small terrace houses and 25 large ones on Platt lane (some are 2 or 3 flats, others are 5/6 person student houses)These bins are also unlawfully used by some of the houses on Eileen Grove West (who have individual bins at the front of their houses) and further along Platt Lane (the alley behind PL and Redruth is gated and the top flats have no access to those bins as they have no keys)Black bins all emptied last week. No side waste, most bins very full. They are now approx 1/3 full. There has been 2 bags of side waste on bottom of St Ives /Ealing. Otherwise all cleanBlue bins all overflowing!! Emptied today. One forgotten, have reported this.Green bins emptied today – 3 large bins, full of leaves, 23 little green bins ie 21.5% (usually more than this, I think people are forgetting cos of the fortnightly winter collection)Area mostly very clean, though quite a lot of leaf litter around. I will try and sweep this up over weekend, into big green bins.My personal: havent weighed black this week as only a v small amount in bin. Sorry I forgot to weigh recycling when I put it in bins. Green I will weigh when full and taking it to empty on allotment.

LAST FRIDAY 2 BIG BLUE BINS MISSED; they came and did them yesterday.
This week’s side waste statistics have shown that for 322 individual bin houses near me, there were 32.5 bags put out for collection alongside the bins. This equates to 1 bag for every 19.8 houses per week. I’m feeling quite pleased with this statistic, which is a huge improvement from last week. I wrote a letter from Upping It to all the houses in the worst offending street and they went from 25 bags last time from several houses, to just half a bag this time for the entire row. I have attached the letter so you can marvel at my technique.
Don’t forget…it’s brown bin day tomorrow!
Thank you to everyone who is sticking to the correct bin system and playing their part in keeping Deramore Street cleaner than it used to be…
…. Unfortunately, there are still a few who are leaving bins out and allowing rubbish to pile up in front gardens. Where houses are so close together, what we do with our rubbish affects our neighbours, in terms of attracting mice to their homes, and making the place look depressing. Please, please be considerate. If you have chosen to store your bins in the front, please don’t let them overflow. It is unpleasant for those next door to come home to this, especially when it smells so near to their windows. With consideration and good recycling, we can decrease the mess that affects Deramore, and make it nicer, healthier, happier place for one another to live in.
If your house has 6 or more living there, you are entitled to have a second black bin, which costs £20. It is your landlord’s responsibility to organise this, and you can point him/her in the direction of www.manchester.gov.uk/bins if needed. You can also order extra recycling bins for free from this website if you need them.
Happy recycling!

(bunch of friendly neighbours working to improve recycling rates in the terrace streets of Moss Side & Rusholme, by making sure everyone knows what to do with their bins, nicely nagging our neighbours when they don’t recycle or if they make a mess, and by sticking pretty flowers in once-manky alleyways to make them look nice.)

All big paper bins emptied29/12/15
Heald Place East, St Ives Rd, Ealing Ave, Eileen Grove
Binmen came again on Tuesday 29th but most of our black bins still empty.
Brown bins emptied on Sunday 27th, but yet again they didn’t take ANY of the bins at the top of our streets. The St Ives/Heald Place one has been overflowing for weeks, I have had to go daily and move bags and bags of cans and bottles to other less full bins near Platt ane. I am getting really fed up now – they have missed the browns 3 times……
All big paper bins are also overflowing (but that’s just from being full of paper/card.
Browns collected again on Fri 7th
Green bins emptied on Sat 2nd Jan
